ZINPRO CANINE SUPPLEMENT AND SLED DOGS:

What is Zinpro Canine Supplement ?

Zinpro Canine Supplement is the tradename for a unique source of zinc. The zinc source is bound to the amino acid, making it an organic source of zinc.

Why is Zinpro superior to other zinc sources ?

Normal sources of zinc are inorganic zinc sulfate or zinc oxide. Due to genetics, other dietary ingredients, these sources of zinc may not be properly absorbed during the digestion process. Extra supplementation of these inorganic sources tends to cause digestion upsets such as diarrhea.
Zinpro is readily absorbed from the gut, into the blood stream and on to the target organs. It is not toxic and does not accumulate in the body, even if given in excess. Its use does not cause digestive disturbances.

How does Zinpro Work?

Of the trace minerals, only iron is required in higher amounts than zinc. Zinc has two main roles in the body.
1. It is involved in enzyme systems.
2. It is involved in protein synthesis

The production of protein requires a highly palatable and digestible form of zinc.
Footpads, nails, skin and hair coat are composed of mostly protein. (In the range of 85% protein). Nails are chemically similar to skin, footpads, and hair. Nails and pads are not mineral in origin. They are modified skin structures, that are high in protein. Exposure to elements, weight bearing, abrasion due to walking, and running, cause a lot of wear and tear on these structures. The cells of footpads and nails do not live very long, and new cells are produced continuously. This requires production of large amounts of quality protein and thus a readily available, safe, source of zinc is required. Zinpro best fills this need.

Why does Zinpro work well on sled dogs ?

1. Some of the arctic breeds (huskies, malamutes, Chows) are thought to have a higher genetic requirement for zinc.

2. Competition dogs are often fed high fat diets where inorganic sources of zinc may not be properly absorbed from the intestinal tract.

3. Racing on snow, slush and ice is brutally punishing on footpads and nails. These two organs must produce a lot of new tissue protein to compensate for the abrasion factor.

What are the results of feeding Zinpro ?

It takes about 6 weeks to see results after starting Zinpro supplementation.

Results center around:

1. Increased nail and foot pad durability.

2. Higher quality of skin tissue, it will be almost evident on sled dogs in the areas between the toes.

3. An increase in lustre of the hair coat.

4. Decreased occurrence of hot spots, especially during warm months.

How is Zinpro available ?

Zinpro Canine Supplement is available in a biscuit or supplement form. Sled dog owners find that topdressing the palatable supplement daily on each dog’s dish is most convenient and economical.
